At Adath Israel, we offer a number of learning opportunities for all ages and backgrounds. All are welcome!

Monday Evening 7:45 PM: Men’s Talmud Class with Rabbi Jacob Traub.
Tuesday Nights at 8 PM: Beginner's Talmud Class with Rabbi Strulowitz. No Hebrew skills or Talmudic background necessary.
Wednesday Nights at 8 PM: Chumash class. Join Rabbi Strulowitz and begin to look at the Torah in a new light. This text-based class is open to men and women and is suited for Jews of all backgrounds. No Hebrew required.
Downtown Lunch and Learn: Monthly in Downtown OfficesEnjoy a delicious lunch, meet some new people, and join Rabbi Strulowitz and discuss contemporary business topics from a Jewish point of view.
Sunday Morning Latte and Learn: Every Sunday morning after Shacharis grap a cup of Joe on the house and join us as we learn about some of the most controversial contemporary topics in Jewish law.

Parents Learning Havurah: We focus so much on our children's education, but we can't forget the parents! This monthly group meets at private homes in the area. Introduction to the Fourth Haftarah d'Nechemata

Parashat Shof'tim's Haftarah is another of the seven Haftarot of Consolation; this one is the fourth. Like the rest of the them, it comes from the book of Isaiah and takes place after 538 B.C.E., when Cyrus the Mede decreed that the Jewish people could return to their homeland. This particular prophecy implies that some of the Jews have already returned to Jerusalem, although not yet many.

Introduction to the Third Haftarah d'Nechemata

The third Haftarah of Consolation is from the second half of the book of Isaiah, like the others; the historical context is also sometime after 538 B.C.E., following Cyrus's decree of restoration. While this particular Haftarah is quite short, there are nevertheless two halves to it, each dealing with a somewhat different theme. The first half begins with more promises of the restoration of Judah and Jerusalem; these should be familiar enough from the previous two Haftarot of Consolation. Isaiah predicts that the people will remain loyal to God, and God will protect them in every way, since no harm can befall them without God's consent.
