The Adath Israel Hebrew School program is for children from Kindergarten through 5th Grade that will engage childrens' minds and souls. Read More The program will focus on teaching children the rich history and depth of Jewish learning as they begin to understand the world around them.

 

Our philosophy is to provide children with a strong Jewish education to allow them to be productive and educated members of the Jewish community. We create an environment that is warm, fun and lively, while also ensuring that the environment is structured and intellectually stimulating. The program, led by Rabbi Joshua Strulowitz, will teach the essential stories of the Torah, Jewish holidays and the vital Jewish traditions.


The Adath Israel Hebrew School will be open to children in grades K-5 for the 2010-2011 school year. The begins September 1st, and will meet Wednesdays from 4 PM to 5:45, including a monthly Sunday morning and bi-monthly Shabbat morning program that will be more fun and informal than the weekly Wednesday program. We're very lucky to have Rabbi Strulowitz as one of the primary teachers in the Hebrew School. Rabbi Strulowitz teaches the Judaic studies curriculum for grades 1-4. He will also be working with the Kindergarten group. His rich knowledge and warm and friendly nature allow him to connect well with his students while also teaching the students at a high level.

 

Orna_PicOrna Weisberg, Hebrew Teacher and Administrator
Orna is our Hebrew language teacher for grades 1-4. Originally hailing from Israel, Orna recently relocated to San Francisco. She taught elementary school Hebrew, Judaic studies, math and literature at Shosharim Elementary School in Netanya. She received her Masters in Education, as well as her B.A./B.ed. from Oranim College in Kiryat Tivon Israel. She comes with a wealth of experience, as well as a passion for Jewish life. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and two sons.

 

Laura_Cunradi_PicLaura Cunradi, Kindergarten Teacher

Our Kindergarten teacher, Laura Cunradi, is a Bay Area native. She is currently the head teacher at the Adath Israel Preschool. She was raised in Berkeley's Congregation Netivot Shalom, and attended Berkeley High. She majored in Linguistics and Education at UC Santa Cruz, where she was also a member of the Chabad Student Club. She has worked with severely disabled children in east Oakland, and taught English in Jerusalem. Laura is loves working with children, and enjoys making Jewish tradition fun and interesting for preschool-aged children. She also teaches Hebrew at Congregation Beth El in Berkeley and studies child development at City College SF.
